Airbus A340 family
A long range wide bodied four engined passenger aircraft, intended for long over water flights (where twin engined planes have restrictions)
introduced into service in 1993 and developed alongside the twin engined A330. Approximately 340 A340’s have been built.
A340-200Introduced in 1993 with a range of 13,800 Km. This version is no longer built, having only sold 28. A340-300Introduced at the same time as the 200, this version is longer, carrying more passengers, with a slightly reduced range. A340-500Introduced in 2002 with a range of 16,000 Km (the longest range commercial aircraft at the time) with 313 passengers in a 3 class layout. A340-600The A340-600 can fly 380 passengers in a 3 class layout with a range of 13,900 Km. |
