Having started life in 1993, Eurowings is now a fully owned subsidiary of Lufthansa having been transformed into a low cost carrier in recent years.
In 2014, Eurowings started operating flights for Germanwings (also a Lufthansa subsidiary), taking over all Germanwings routes after the Germanwings brand was dropped from use during 2015 – 2016.
Eurowings carried 23.5 million passengers in 2017, a 27% increase from the previous year.
