Luxair the national airline of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg airline in Luxembourg (and the only passenger airline in Luxembourg) was created in 1961 but has roots dating back to 1948, and currently has a fleet of very modern aircraft.
The airline is mostly owned by the Luxembourg state. Although Lufthansa had previously been a minority shareholder they sold their shares to the state in 2015.
The airline transported 2.1 million passengers in 2018, an 11% increase from the previous year.
