Eastern Airways started operating in 1997 with flights from Humberside,its base and Aberdeen.
In 2003, routes and aircraft were transferred from British Airways CitiExpress.
In September 2010, it was announced that Eastern Airways had agreed to buy Air Southwest, the regional airline based at Plymouth, which will keep the Air Southwest Brand name. However Air Southwest ceased flying from Plymouth and Newquay in 2011.
