Turkish Airlines, the national airline of Turkey, was established in 1933 and is now partially privatised.

2004 saw a significant expansion period with 51 new planes being ordered.

In 2012 announced an interest in buying into LOT Polish and TAP Portugal, though neither happened.

The airline has a fleet of over 300 passenger aircraft (approximately half Airbus and half Boeing 737) and carried 75 million passengers in 2018, a 9% increase from the previous year.

Turkish Airlines have shown to have one of the fastest growth rates of any European airline.
