LOT Polish Airlines was established in 1929. Services were halted during World War 2 but domestic and international flights restarted 7 years later in 1945.
During the period of communist rule in Poland, the aircraft fleet were of Russian origin but in the 1980’s there was a shift towards Boeing.
In 1997, LOT set up EuroLOT as a subsidiary regional airline.
The airline went through a restructuring process in 2015 which saw it return to a profit after several years of loss making.
6.8 million passengers were carried by LOT Polish in 2017, a similar level to the previous year.
