Bosnia and Herzegovina, formerly part of Yugoslavia, is almost landlocked, except for a 20 Km stretch of Adriatic coastline.
Having been through troubled times in the 1990’s, Bosnia is now getting itself back on the map.
Tourism is mainly centred on sites of historical interest in the capital, Sarajevo, and other cities.
The country is expected to have a high growth rate in tourism over the coming years, with the diverse landscape offering excellent oportunities for outdoor activities, including walking, white water rafting, and skiing (the site of the 1984 Winter Plympics lies with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The official languages in Bosnia and Herzegovina are Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian. The currency is the Bosnian Convertible Marka (BAM) with an exchange rate of approximately 2.3 BAM to the British Pound.
