Hungary, disected down the middle by the river Danube has a landscape varying from rolling plains in the south east to mountains in the north (along the border with Slovakia) rising to 1000m.

Lake Balaton has sometimes been called the Hungarian sea – the lake is over 70Km long and the real sea is a long way to travel. In summer the lake reaches a temperature of of 25 deg C, making swimming very pleasant.
