Air Malta is the national airline of Malta, based at Malta International Airport, and started flying operations in 1974 with two Boeing 720s.
The airline bought their first new aircraft in 1983 (three Boeing 737 200s) with 2 more being added in 1987, part of an expansion that saw 1.6 million passengers carried in the 2002-2003 season.
From 2002, Air Malta started replacing aircraft. The airline now has a fleet of 10 aircraft, connecting Malt with around 50 locations in Europe and North Africa.
2012 saw a re-branding of the airline with new logos and aircraft livery.
AirMalta transported 1.5 million passengers in 2018
